recap 2024

2024 saw me in the process of recovering from overwork, from an early stage breast cancer, a double mastectomy and a shoulder injury. While often frustrated with the restrictions of just not being able to do what I wanted to do, I worked on five books whenever I could, completed two of them, built six new websites for my projects and filled bags full of goodies, all of them contributions for our future on this amazing planet and for these also pretty amazing creatures called humans. In between I encountered new people, found a magical lake, fell in love, got smashed against a figurative wall that felt damn real, crawled back onto my wave of energy, rode it for a stretch, slipped back into bleeding overwork, unexpectedly reconnected with my siblings, their mother and partners. Very glad about that.

As for the yellow guy and all the rest of them: Honestly, let’s treat it as a challenge and let’s focus rethinking, reshaping, restoring. This is our world. We can rethink and reshape it. I look forward to 2025 and can’t wait to do my bits for this planet and for humanity.

reconnecting

Here I am still on the island Usedom. I went early on the 26th December to meet with my siblings whom I hadn’t seen in nearly a decade, not knowing what to expect.

It’s been intense, very good and I’m still here, reconnecting.

15:34 – It seems I’m not particularly chatty today. I’ve been tinkering some more with the Vimeo videos and just now released a new limited edition Fine Art Print.

11:36 – Good morning, everyone and a pleasant, sunny day to you. Unexpectedly, we have some sunshine here in Berlin. I’ll be tinkering here and there for a while and will keep you up-to-date whenever some new content becomes available. For now, check out the highlights. Oh, and yes, get a copy of book 3, shaping.

Christmas Eve specials

Afterthoughts: the day was not at all as I planned or imagined. Let’s see how Christmas Day will shape up.

Here my live comments. I wrote some comments in the morning, then my server went on strike. Unfortunately I deleted those in the spur of my frustration. So, only the evening & night remarks are preserved.

3:30 – since my bag full of goodies is still pretty full, I will be online all of tomorrow, too – after I got some sleep.

3:28 – I managed one last task for today, I published

on the easy town books website.

3:26 – Good morning. Technical issues keep hampering- well, a lot. I completed the recording for the selected parts of the Christmas chapter, but apparently vimeo has trouble with the upload. Also apparently, I need some sleep.

21:21 – Watch the recordings of the Christmas chapter on vimeo.com/charliealiceraya. The videos are not displayed in chronological order but they are numbered.

20:57 – Things are progressing slowly. While I can embed videos from Vimeo now, I can’t make them play on desktop. They play on mobile though which makes the whole thing a bigger puzzle.

This is what I’ll do now. I’ll put all published videos on public and then you should be able to watch them all on Vimeo. After that I will have something to eat (I’m overdue), then I will keep recording and publishing on Vimeo and I’ll probably figure out the embedding some time tomorrow. What a nice mess. But, I like the videos that are already recorded. So, take a look.

20:05 – sorry about not having been online as planned. My server went on strike some time after noon and I couldn’t save anything on any of my websites.

I was not a little frustrated but eventually, I decided that a shrug was the best way to deal with this. I don’t know for how long my server will work this time around but I will try to embed as many videos as I can.

I haven’t yet figured out whether the videos are all visible on Vimeo but you could try to find me there: Charlie Alice Raya.

I’ll also try to publish a key scene and a key poem on the easy town books website and I hope to make the short story: The story of empowerment available to you.

If the serve strikes again, check in again tomorrow.

Meanwhile I will continue to record scenes from the Christmas chapter, a task which takes more time than I expected.

book 3, shaping

It’s already very late. But I’d like to add a few notes for today.

Finally, the first chapter of book 3/1, shaping, becomes available, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

I didn’t expect it, but over the last weeks book 3/1 still had a mind of growing, extending and deepening. And seeing the result now, I no longer grumpy about postponing the publication several times.

I decided to publish this book chapter by chapter so that you can start reading while the upcoming chapters get their final touches. I will continue with publishing chapters throughout book 3/2, but I’m still undecided about book 3/3, even though, it is the most advanced of them all.

Over the next days, I will spend my mornings with book 3/1, and my afternoons & evenings with book 3/2. All of which gives me great joy and hope. There is so much inspiration and vision in these chapters. Just reading them makes me smile. Mind you, occasionally a tear wells up, or anger breaks through. But defiance is never far. We can shape our world and book 3 can inspire, strengthen and lighten us.

For me it’s time to rest. I wish you a pleasant evening. Take heart. There is a lot we can do. We need courage, imagination and strangely (or not) love, for ourselves, our fellow humans and our planet.

book 3, shaping

Welcome to a new month.

It’s unlikely that you will hear much from me over the next weeks since I’ll focus on completing book 3/1 & book 3/2, shaping.

After a day at the Baltic Sea, reconnecting with a family member, and a day at my magical lake, I am ready for the new month.

I needed a bit of a reset, as I kept sliding into overwork. Today is the beginning of a new phase which I marked with shaving my head. For me that’s a potent and joyful act.

Until Christmas my days will centre around completing book 3/1 and book 3/2, strengthening my health and working on additional ways of keeping myself from overworking.

I’m happy and excited to say that today, I feel the strength and energy again, I jeopardised in the previous weeks.
